about

Our archaeologist, with the help of his astronomer friend, has located this distant planet and taken a starship to travel there. Upon his arrival, he is welcomed by the humans on Earth with great fanfare. They compare how humanity has evolved differently on the two planets but rejoice in their similarities. He is also told a tale of struggle and death, how the ancestors of the humans of Earth were left behind by the ones they call the “Deserters.” The Deserters, who were the upper classes of the planet, left a dying Earth in their starships and took all the available and valuable resources they could. They left Earth with almost nothing. Those left behind were stranded on a wasteland of a planet, but through their struggle they managed to ultimately survive to become a new, thriving Earth. Our archaeologist was so excited to find this planet, to see his years of hard work bear fruit, but his feelings have changed. While the humans on Earth talk of their excitement about reunion, he senses a lingering anger. He now feels uncertainty and regret, all while he is being paraded around Earth to cheering crowds as a symbol of Destiny.
